Menthae Herba (薄荷) is the dried aerial part of Mentha haplocalyx Briq., family Lamiaceae (Labiatae).

Macroscopic character
Stem square, opposite branches; external purplish-brown or pale green, the angular regions pubescent, texture fragile, fracture white, pith hollowed. Lamina crumpled, broadly lanceolate, long-elliptical or ovate, the upper surface dark green and the lower surface greyish-green, sparsely pubescent. Verticillate axillary, corolla pale purple. Odor, characteristic and aromatic after rubbing; taste, pungent and cool.Macroscopic character

Processing method
Eliminate old stem and foreign matters, spray with a small quantity of water, soften briefly, cut into short sections, and dry at a lower temperature immediately.
