Huachiew Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinic opens its doors to Thai and Chinese students for hands-on learning in herbs and Traditional Chinese Medicine

On Thursday, May 29, 2025, Huachiew Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinic warmly welcomed faculty members and students from the Chulabhorn International College of Medicine, Thammasat University, along with students from Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. A total of 47 participants attended the study visit held at the Integrated Chinese Herbal Learning Center, Huachiew Traditional Chinese Medicine Herb Warehouse, and Huachiew Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinic Headquarters in Bangkok.

The purpose of the visit was to enhance educational opportunities in the field of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), broadening the participants’ perspectives through exposure to modern and practical learning methods.

The morning session began with a presentation on the history and background of the clinic, followed by a guided tour of the Integrated Chinese Herbal Learning Center Museum. The museum provides knowledge about Daodi medicinal materials—high-quality Chinese herbs sourced from the People’s Republic of China—and the processing techniques used to transform raw herbs into ready-to-use medicinal products. The tour covered both basic and advanced preparation methods, which are distinctive features of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Participants also visited the Herb Processing Building, where demonstrations of preliminary herbal processing techniques applicable in clinical practice were held. The group then observed the solar drying room, a facility for drying Chinese herbs under carefully controlled temperature and humidity conditions.

In the afternoon, the group continued their visit at the Huachiew Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinic Headquarters, where they learned about various branches of TCM clinical services. These included internal medicine, external medicine, acupuncture, Tuina massage, orthopedics, and rehabilitation for paralysis and neurological disorders, as well as the clinic’s herbal pharmacy operations.

This activity aimed to broaden students’ horizons in Traditional Chinese Medicine through practical, hands-on learning experiences at a high-quality, real-world medical facility.
